Some general curiosity questions on your interest in archaeology;
1. How did you get interested in archaeology?
2. Are there any periods in history which interest you in particular?
3. Are you mostly interested in UK archaeology or are there other countries/kingdoms/cultures archaeology that interest you as well (and if so, which ones)?
4. Have you ever considered a career in archaeology (or are you an archaeologist)?

Have you ever considered a career in archaeology (or are you an archaeologist)? 1 and 4 : Believe it or not via a government course for the uemployed, around 25 years ago (a tenner extra on your dole plus free bus pass !). That gave me enough experience to get proper paid work, albeit only on a sporadic temporary basis...and that's pretty much dried up now thanks to austerity. 2. I've almost exclusively been involved with Roman sites. Would have quite liked to do some industrial archaeology. 3. Mainly Uk |

You are still fortunate to have real hands on professional experience of doing archaeological work though Wearwolf  ! As for me; 1. I grew up on a farm in Wiltshire which was teeming with archaeology from almost every period in history imaginable. Always helping out with work on the farm, I often found things like stone tools lying in the fields (and ended up developing an interest in archaeology). 2. Pre-Roman archaeology interests me the most although I am also fascinated in the Roman times, Dark Age times and Medieval times. 3. I am quite interested in the Archaeology of China but also of various other European countries too (like France & Germany etc). 4. Yes I did however I settled down quite early in life and so it was not a practicable career for me to pursue. |
